Through three moves, parts of this layout were salvaged and repurposed into the current 12x25 space. Design was modular, though moving at this point in too horrible to contemplate. I wanted switching districts like the yards at Sargent, Ute Springs and Pandora which provide plenty of switching opportunities. The main line represents the west side of Marshall Pass from Sargent to the summit. The grad has been reduced to 2.5% so that the upper deck (the pass) didn’t get so tall that observation, operation and re-railing would be difficult. Control is 12-volt DC and Dynotrol, though obsolete, Dynotrol allows multiple trains and realistic helper service with up to 4 engines. Layout is approximately 95% complete. The last of the scenery is roughed in with a few planned building yet to be built. This should be well along by the convention. However, since parts of the layout were laid in 1975, it can be seen that I’m in no hurry.
